The Olympics are closing up shop, and I’m afraid that both my Olympic knitting projects have wiped out on the ice. I tore apart that pretty shawl you see down below, because pretty as it was, it was out of whack. And after I did that, I tore down Ella all the way to the split. I *will* learn to knit lace. I will! I’m going to just keep starting over til it kills me.
That’s the way poor old Don Knotts would have wanted it, after all. The show must go on!
Update: I’ve cast on again and Ella is waiting patiently for me to start the right extension rows. What was that old Nat King Cole song?
If you slip
Be grateful for a pleasant trip
And pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off
And start all over again.

Just dropped by to see if there was an update. Awww, it’s not defeat! Every lace knitter in the world has ripped out a whole lot of work when it wasn’t going right. You can totally do it! We’ll help you out at the knitty board, as long as it takes, but I bet it won’t take long. Down there on your page, Ella is gorgeous. If you can do Ella, you can do this. :)

ooops, I saw that you frogged Ella too. Like I said, everyone has to frog it sometimes when they’re learning. I messed up an entire curtain I was trying to do for my bathroom a few years ago, and didn’t even notice it was off until … way, way, way into it. I didn’t even frog it, I tossed it in the trash. That one didn’t work, but the next project did. It just takes practice, and I have faith in you.

Found you on the knittyboard. You can come and wander around the rest of the Olympics with me. I’m in the “cancelled my lace entry” camp, too. Ugh ugh ugh. It was so very very pretty.
Some day, some day, you will whip along the lace fast lane just like other knitters!

You will prevail. Especially if you get Chubkat to help by doing that thing where he holds up his paws and you wrap yarn around them… whatsat called? Catwindery?

Yes, enlist the cats. Lazy buggers have been getting off easy all these years, time they were forced to knit for their supper.
